Dos Manos

Save the Med's education programmes demonstrate that small actions can make a big difference and nurture the next generation of "environmental stewards," equipping them with knowledge, skills, and purpose.

During this programme, participants engage in a hands-on citizen-science activity collecting, catagorising and analysing plastic pollution on the beach, including macroplastics and microplastics, and carrying out a brand audit. Based on the data collected, students study their results and draw conclusions about the most commonly found plastic items in their local environment.

This year, the programme expanded its reach to Palma's penitentiary centre. Sixty participants, including inmates and civil servants, played an active part in these citizen-science activities and provided very positive feedback, highlighting the transformative power of education to bridge societal gaps and promote collective action.
